Best Practice: Documenting Disruptive Patient Behavior
MAY 18, 2022
As COVID–19 enters its third year, encounters with disruptive patients continue to push the tolerance and sensitivity of physicians and their staff. Healthcare workers face increased anxiety, stress, personal and professional isolation, and diminishing coping strategies as they interact with patients also at their limit.
Medical practices should evaluate disruptive behavior through a lens that includes evaluation of cultural issues, intrinsic bias, language, and health literacy.
This webinar will discuss how medical record documentation should reflect the patient experience and behavior, and how to defend against health plan grievances or Medical Board complaints. In addition we will review how it serves to support dismissal of a patient when warranted.
