NYCU, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 October 26, 2017 CMA, HOD, Leadership 0 MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2017 PHYSICIANS: This weekend, over 500 physician leaders from all over California gathered at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim for the CMA'sannual House of Delegates meeting. Expert panels discussed some of the most pressing health care issues, including Federal Health Reform, Single Payer and Public Option, Mental Health, and Workforce. The delegates then went on to debate each of these topics and adopt fresh policy, which we will cover in San Diego Physician and this newsletter over the coming months. Of particular excitement for our delegation, SDCMS's very own Ted Mazer was installed as the 150th President of CMA. Dr. Mazer has served on the CMA Board of Trustees since 2002, as Speaker of the House of Delegates from 2013 to 2016, and chaired various committees, including those focused on medical services and access to specialty care. I'm excited for the year ahead with Dr. Mazer at the helm. Another San Diegan, Robert Wailes, was elected as Chair of the CMA's Board of Trustees. Dr. Wailes, a pain specialist and board certified anesthesiologist, is the founder, co-owner and medical director of Pacific Medicine Group in Oceanside and Encinitas. He has served as president of the San Diego County Medical Society and represents the American Academy of Pain Medicine at the American Medical Association. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
