Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: The California Medical Association held a virtual House of Delegates (HOD) session and it was a very successful event. Several members of SDCMS were elected to important positions in CMA or played key roles at HOD. SDCMS Past President Robert Wailes took office as CMA President–Elect. Current SDCMS President Holly Yang was elected to the CMA Board of Trustees, joining on–going Trustee William Tseng. The Board established a new Governance Technical Advisory Committee to be chaired by Dr. Yang. SDCMS' Lase Ajayi presented the future of Medical Care Post–COVID–19 report as Chair of the Council on Medical Services. SDCMS Past President Susan Kaweski completed her term as Chair of CALPAC, the political action committee for CMA. Thanks to Dr. Kaweski's vision and leadership, our District once again won the Victory Bell award for the year, presented to the HOD regional delegation with 100% participation and the highest average donation to CALPAC. There will be more coverage of the House of Delegates in the next issue of San Diego Physician Magazine.

The SDCMS Nominations Committee has announced the annual call for nominations to the SDCMS board and officer positions. The committee will meet in December and prepare a slate of candidates for approval by the board next year and election in the spring. To be eligible for service on the SDCMS Board of Directors, physicians must have been active members of SDCMS for at least two years as of the date of assumption of duties: June 2021. Additionally, for Geographic Directors, physicians must have their primary practice located within the geographic district. To see the list of positions available for nomination and for more information CLICK HERE.

Finally, SDCMS wants to recognize San Diego County's most Outstanding Medical Office Manager / Practice Administrator, i.e., someone who goes above and beyond his or her job description, who anticipates problems before they arise, who works efficiently with the practice's time and resources, and who strikes the right balance between exercising control and boosting morale when supervising staff. SDCMS Member physicians can nominate their office managers by explaining in writing (up to 600 words) why their office manager is the BEST in San Diego County.

Nominations will be accepted through Thursday, December 31st, 2020. The winner will receive a $200 gift card and recognition as San Diego County's Outstanding Medical Office Manager for 2020! Contest results will also be published in the February 2021 issue of San Diego Physician Magazine.

Please email your nominations to Hanna.Basler@SDCMS.org. Remember, only submissions from physician members will be considered.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
