Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: As we enter Thanksgiving Week and the official beginning of the Holiday Season, California’s patients and physicians have — for the first time in a while — much to be thankful for and celebrate. The landslide passage of Proposition 35 will help so many Californians have increased access to health care.

But even then there will still be too many who need health care who fall between the cracks. That is why the San Diego County Medical Society formed its non–profit, Champions for Health. Champions has provided life–changing medical care and vital health services to those who need it most in San Diego County.

This year, they delivered specialty medical care to hundreds of individuals who would otherwise go without critical treatments. Through the Project Access program, 131 patients received 717 specialty care appointments and 80 surgeries — completely free of charge.

Meanwhile, Champions’ health education and prevention programs reached nearly 3,000 San Diegans, provided 12,000 blood pressure screenings, and administered 28,000 immunizations, protecting vulnerable populations from preventable diseases.

As Champions looks to 2025, the demand for their services is growing. Many in our community remain uninsured or underinsured, struggling to access the care they need.

This #GivingTuesday, you can make a difference.

With your contribution, they can:

Save lives by providing free specialty medical care and life–saving surgeries

Protect families through health education, screenings, and immunizations

Promote health equity across San Diego County for those who need it most

This Giving Tuesday, please join in making 2025 their most impactful year yet. A gift of $250 can sustain vital services, while a donation of $1,000 enables Champions to expand their reach to even more people in need.

You can donate today by CLICKING HERE or mailing your gift to: Champions for Health, 4699 Murphy Canyon Road, Suite 102, San Diego, CA 92123. Your donation is tax–deductible, and you’ll receive a receipt for your records.

Thank you in advance for your support.
