NYCU November 17, 2020 December 1, 2020 CMA, COVID-19, General, Infectious Disease, Leadership, Practice Management, Public Health, SDCMS 0 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2020 PHYSICIANS: The news that San Diego County and 94% of the State of California are back in the most restrictive tier and COVID–19 cases are surging across the nation means we are entering the most challenging part of the pandemic. The hard work, sacrifice and burden that our health care workers have endured over the past eight months will only intensify over the course of the next couple of months. This is particularly difficult given the overlap during the Holidays. We are grateful for all that you do and the financial, physical and emotional costs you have borne this year. We must, of course, continue to urge mask wearing, social distancing, and hand washing. It is, after all, personal responsibility and limiting personal activity that will get us through this period. Fortunately, there is now real hope with the news of two vaccines which are over 90% effective that will hopefully be distributed within the next few months. Congratulations to Jay Doucet, MD, FACS, FRCSC and SDCMS member for being named the 2020 SurgeonsVoice Advocate of the Year. Dr. Doucet's commitment to the American College of Surgeons and engaging other surgeons in advocacy, along with his political leadership, have earned him this well–deserved honor. SDCMS-CMA Members receive a 20% discount if they participate in the 2020 Southern California State of Reform Virtual Health Policy Conference on December 8th from 8am to 2pm. You can access the Member Discount Number for the conference if you CLICK HERE and learn even more information about the variety of issues explored if you CLICK HERE to access the website. Finally, a reminder that SDCMS wants to recognize San Diego County's most Outstanding Medical Office Manager / Practice Administrator, i.e., someone who goes above and beyond his or her job description, who anticipates problems before they arise, who works efficiently with the practice's time and resources, and who strikes the right balance between exercising control and boosting morale when supervising staff. SDCMS Member physicians can nominate their office managers by explaining in writing (up to 600 words) why their office manager is the BEST in San Diego County. Nominations will be accepted through Thursday, December 31st, 2020. The winner will receive a $200 gift card and recognition as San Diego County's Outstanding Medical Office Manager for 2020! Contest results will also be published in the February 2021 issue of San Diego Physician Magazine. Please email your nominations to Hanna.Basler@SDCMS.org. Remember, only submissions from physician members will be considered. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
