NYCU Monday, January 29, 2018 January 29, 2018 Hepatitis A, Influenza 0 MONDAY, JANUARY 29, 2018 PHYSICIANS: There is positive news in San Diego. On Tuesday of last week the County Board of Supervisors voted to end the "emergency status" for the Hepatitis A outbreak in our region. Unfortunately, the same is not true for the flu epidemic in our region, state and throughout the country. While new cases resulting in death of influenza has slowed down in our region, it is reported that this is the worst and most deadly national epidemic since the swine flu in 2009. I have included a few national articles below but our home page www.sdcms.org continues to be updated regularly with local statistics, news articles and useful tools for your office and patients that I encourage you to check back on frequently. It has come to my attention that the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) issued a cease-and-desist order requiring 9 health plans to terminate their health plans with Employee Health Systems (EHS) including Multicultural. Since EHS has 600,000 patients statewide, I am aware that this could have a direct affect on many of you and your patients. An article on what we know today can be read here. I am continuing to monitor this and as any new information comes in I will relay it to you. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
