The first major state legislative deadline occurred this past week and I'm excited to report on numerous victories for physicians and patients because of the advocacy team at the California Medical Association. State Senator Richard Pan, MD, succeeded in having SB 276, his legislation to tighten vaccine exemptions, move forward. AB 744, a bill to expand payments for Telehealth services, and AB 764, legislation limiting marketing incentives for sugar-sweetened beverages, both continue on. We can also be gratified that AB 890, the dangerous scope of practice bill, failed to move forward. A lot is happening at the statewide level on health care policy and issues that impact the quality of life for our member physicians.
