NYCU July 31, 2018 July 31, 2018 CMA, Medicare, Physician Workforce, SDCMS, TRICARE 0 TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2018 PHYSICIANS: The new TRICARE Western Region contractor, Health Net Federal Services (HNFS), is experiencing implementation issues related to provider contracting and credentials, beneficiary reassignment to new primary care managers (PCM), and provider director inaccuracies. The California Medical Association just published an article on these implementation problems to help members navigate them which you can read by clicking here. One of the most important - and dangerous - measures on November's ballot is Proposition 8. This initiative is pushed by special interests trying to force dialysis centers to unionize. Its practical effect is to severely limit what insurance companies are required to reimburse for dialysis care. As a results, hundreds of dialysis clinics in California would be forced to dramatically reduce services or close. The California Medical Association, joined in a coalition of over 100 health care and other groups, strongly opposes Proposition 8. You can read a patient's perspective on how Prop. 8 would negatively impact her and other other patients by clicking here. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
