Membership in the committee will be limited, however, we look forward to working together as an entire Medical Society towards these goals. If you wish to nominate yourself or a colleague please email SDCMS@SDCMS.org and we will send you the nomination questionnaire. All committee members must be SDCMS members. If you are nominating a colleague, please ensure that they are willing to serve. The State of California is making millions of pieces of medical–grade PPE — including N95 masks, surgical masks, shields, gowns and gloves — available FREE of charge to practices with 50 or less physicians. SDCMS is partnering with CMA and the California Office of Emergency Services to distribute this equipment to qualifying small and medium–sized medical practices through local “drive through” events. Reservations are required through CMA’s online registration, and are being accepted now through July 21st only. Please CLICK HERE to fill out the online form placing only one request per practice location. PPE Relief kits include up to a two–month supply. Details regarding local distribution will follow via email. COVID–19 cases are surging in California, and particularly in Imperial County. Medical personnel volunteers are urgently needed in Imperial County. There are several routes to support this medical mission, the most efficient is through the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and their California Medical Assistance Team (CAL–MAT) Program. Deployments are typically 2 weeks or longer. Shifts are often 12 hours day or night. Travel, meals and lodging are provided. The physician pay ranges from about $60 – $75 per hour depending on experience and CAL–MAT members become paid state employees, sworn in as disaster service workers while activated with liability and occupational health coverage. Currently the CAL–MAT Program is filling multiple missions throughout California. CLICK HERE for additional information on this EMSA program and CLICK HERE to apply. General questions may be submitted to CAL.MAT@emsa.gov, and for mission–specific questions regarding clinical work or possible assignments please contact Dr. Backer directly at Howard.Backer@emsa.ca.gov or El Centro Regional Medical Center CEO Adolphe Edward at Adolphe.Edward@ecrmc.org for more info on work in the alternate care site or the hospital.
