INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN MEDICAL MISINFORMATION RESEARCH STUDY

You are invited to join a research study that aims to characterize the prevalence of medical misinformation and common issues in medicine around which misinformation abounds in California. Additionally, this project aims to identify any gaps in formal education on identifying and addressing medical misinformation and disinformation. Your survey responses will be used to inform the development of a new course on medical misinformation at UC Davis School of Medicine.

If you agree to be in this research project, you will be asked to complete a Qualtrics survey. Your taking part in this research should take about 10–15 minutes. Taking part in the research is completely voluntary, of course, and you are free to decline to take part in the project at any time. You can take the survey here.

If you have any questions about this research, please feel free to contact the investigator Serena Ly at (714) 492–0619 or sehly@ucdavis.edu. All survey responses will be held confidential. Survey responses do not require any identifying information that could connect you to your survey responses.

REMINDER: PHC MEDICAL STUDENT GRANT APPLICATION CYCLE OPEN NOW

Medical students, do you have an idea for a project that benefits your community but need funding? Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) — the philanthropic arm of the California Medical Association — offers grant money to support medical student projects that enhance the health and well–being of California’s communities. The current application cycle ends January 5, 2024 at 5 pm.

The grants are a part of PHC’s MedStudentsServe program, which funds medical students or student organizations to support educational, advocacy, community service and outreach programs. Funded through endowment and restricted funds and administered by PHC, the program aims to develop the next generation of California’s physician leaders.

Eligible applicants include California–based medical student clubs, student organizations and group projects based at an allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Applicants do not need to be a 501(c)(3) organization.

Awardees will receive up to $2,500 to support their project with 50% of the funds awarded upon signing the awardee agreement and the remaining 50% upon completion of the project and approval of the mandatory final report, which serves as a summary of the project and its impact. For more information or to apply, please visit PHCDocs.org/MedStudentsServe.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
