SDCMS News You Can Use

TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2024

Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: On January 1, 2024, the first phase of Medi–Cal provider rate increases took effect as a result of the 2023–24 budget deal. But, because implementing the rate increases required system and contract updates, health plans had been given additional time to start making the payments.

On June 20, 2024, California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) issued guidance in All Plan Letter 24–007 to Medi–Cal managed care plans on implementation of the 2024 Medi–Cal Targeted Rate Increase Fee Schedule and the retroactive payments for claims with dates of service on or after January 1, 2024, that were already paid, but did not include the rate increases.

DHCS is hosting a provider webinar on July 17, 2024, from 3 to 4:30 pm to answer questions about the 2024 targeted provider rate increases. Questions should be sent in advance to DHCS at targetedrateincreases@dhcs.ca.gov no later than July 8. Advanced registration is required.

For more information about the targeted rate increases see DHCS’ APL 24–007, or contact CMA’s Center for Economic Services at economicservices@cmadocs.org or by phone at (800) 786–4262.

JOIN DR. JAMES T HAY AND SAN DIEGO BRAVER ANGELS ALLIANCE FORSKILLS FOR DISAGREEING BETTER’ | A FREE INPERSON WORKSHOP ON JULY 20TH

The San Diego Braver Angels Alliance and Dr. James T. Hay are holding a free in–person workshop on ‘Skills for Disagreeing Better’ on July 20th from 10am to 12pm at 9005 Aero Drive in San Diego, 92123.

As the group states, “In this polarized time, we lack basic understanding of why people on the other political side hold their beliefs. We don’t see them as they see themselves — their core values and central concerns — but instead as we choose to see them. We are tempted to regard our own side as principled and the other side as self–interested.

“When we try to communicate across this gap, we often lack the skills for listening carefully, looking for common ground, and sharing our perspectives in ways that connect rather than create more misunderstanding. We can learn to disagree better in polarized times, which means accurately seeing where we differ and where we share common ground.”

Goals of the workshop include:

More understanding of the values and concerns of people who differ from you politically

Better skills for listening in a way so that the other person feels heard

Better skills for sharing viewpoints in a way the other person might hear — even if they disagree

You can register HERE.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
