TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2024 PHYSICIANS: Last week was Election Day, and while ballots are still being counted, California patients, physicians and other health care workers had a VERY successful day! Proposition 35, the top advocacy priority for both California Medical Association and San Diego County Medical Society, won an overwhelming victory with 67.5 percent of the statewide vote at last count. Previously, assaults against health care workers inside an ...

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 PHYSICIANS: It’s important that you contact your Member of Congress as soon as possible! For the fifth straight year, physicians are facing a Medicare payment cut unless Congress intervenes. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, which includes yet another 2.8% cut to physician Medicare payments on January 1, 2025. This cut is mostly due to an expiring 2.93% temporary increase that Congress had previously authorized. Failure to stop these cuts threatens seniors access to physicians and ...

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 PHYSICIANS: In preparation for the upcoming implementation of an electronic POLST registry, California physicians are urged to participate in a POLST Provider Knowledge Survey by September 30, 2024. This survey is being conducted by the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California and the Emergency Medical Services Authority. Physician Orders for Life–Sustaining Treatment, or POLST, is a legally recognized document, similar to the widely used “Do Not Resuscitate” (DNR) orders. The POLST form, used for patients with a serious illness or whose life expectancy is a year or less, ...
